Salons can be unhealthy work environments, especially with the use of hazardous beauty chemicals and cleaning and disinfecting supplies. Additional risk from infectious diseases has taken it's toll on the health of our beauty professionals. Developing safe practices in the salon needs to begin early. As an instructor you have the responsibility to guide your students to see the need for clean, safe environments to protect themselves and their clients throughout their cosmetology career. You will also learn fun teaching activities to bring back to the classroom . This exciting class will have you creating a germ farm, comparing work stations, doing mock inspections.and more! Kelly Thompson is a Licensed Salon Manager and CORE Instructor for SSPA. About the BCE: Who We Are and What We're Up To will provide attendees with a lesson that surveys current hot topics related to the Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners (BCE). While all instructors know that the BCE regulates cosmetology, this course will offer a more in-depth look into how the BCE functions and operates, current projects within the BCE, and what is on the horizon for school regulation. Additionally, the course will offer information on the new Practical Skills Test and helpful tips for students and schools on completing applications. Catrina Mairose is the Licensing Division Manager for the MN Board of Cosmetologist Examiners and holds a degree in social sciences from the University of Minnesota.
